Accessible access taxis

In accordance with the Equality Act 2010, section 165 we keep a list of vehicles licensed as either a Hackney Carriage or a private hire vehicle which are wheelchair accessible. 

There are currently eight Hackney Carriages licensed by us that are wheelchair accessible. In addition there are a number of private hire vehicles and companies licensed by us that provide wheelchair accessible vehicles. A number of the private hire vehicles are only licensed to carry out home to school contracts.

In line with the legislation and guidance we have agreed a policy for drivers to apply for a medical exemption. Any driver issued with an exemption will be given a certificate. This will need to be displayed in the vehicle they are driving.
