Virtual committee meetings
Information for watching live and recorded meetings
Full Council - Thursday 25 February 2021
Following changes to government rules, we are trialling the use of video conferencing and webcasting to hold public meetings. This is due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the government guidance on necessary social distancing measures, which means all face-to-face committee meetings of Eastleigh Borough Council have been cancelled until further notice.
We will be using Microsoft Teams Live Events to enable Councillors to take part in meetings and vote on agenda items.
Viewing live meetings
There are a few minimum requirements that must be met to ensure you can view a live event:
- Make sure your browser allows third-party cookies.
- If you're viewing the meeting on the web, use a media-source extension (MSE)-enabled web browser like Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. Safari is not currently supported.
Instructions on how you can view a virtual public meeting are here.
These instructions will also be available with the agenda, along with a live meeting link. This link will be available at least 24 hours before the start of the meeting and will allow you to watch the live meeting as it is broadcast. You will not be able to take part in the meeting via this link, and Councillors will not know who is viewing the meeting. You can join, leave and re-join the meeting at any time.
Watch recordings of virtual meetings
A recording of each meeting will be available to view for up to 12 months after the meeting has taken place.
Local Area Committees
The process for speaking at a Local Area Committee is set out here. This will be updated in advance of any meetings which are held virtually via Microsoft Teams. We are currently looking into options for increasing public participation using video conferencing, including being able to present a statement or ask supplementary questions.
