Your new role
We are looking for an experienced, self-motivated, and committed professional to join us in the Council Tax and/or Business rates area of our Case Management Team. We provide high standards of performance and customer service to our customers through the administration of Council Tax and Business Rates accounts. We have over 55,000+ properties in the Borough and are growing with new businesses and development. You will process applications and requests within these areas and liaise closely with customers to ensure an efficient, timely and helpful service.
Day to day the team use various IT systems including MS Teams, O365, IDOX and Academy. With our reliable IT, we can work efficiently either remotely from home or in our modern Eastleigh office. We maintain contact with each other through MS Teams so that we are all well supported to give our best at work.
We are seeking an individual with extensive current experience (minimum 2 years) across Council Tax and/or Business Rates administration - also known as ‘Revenues’.
Revenues is a high-profile work area within the Council, and you will be able to demonstrate up to date experience of dealing with more complex cases, providing support, and training to colleagues, and operating with minimum supervision from Team Leaders in Council Tax and/or Business Rates. This is a busy working environment, so you will need to be resilient, adaptable and enjoy being part of a great team. We pride ourselves on managing workloads well and staying on top of our work, because we know that this is the most efficient and effective way to provide customers with the service they need. You will be proactive and able to liaise with Specialists when appropriate. You will be required to apply technical expertise where necessary, resolve a wide range of queries and ensure Council standards, protocols and processes are always adhered to. Please do demonstrate your skills in Council Tax/Business Rates throughout this application process.
You must have excellent communication skills, be able to prioritise and have experience of dealing with multiple queries. You will also need to be self-motivated, positive to change, prepared to share knowledge and skills as well as having a flexible, can-do attitude. You will also be required to demonstrate an ability to handle varying data and queries, remain calm and professional even at times when the pressure of workload is higher.
We are a professional and multi-skilled Case Management Team of around 80 busy and friendly colleagues. Every day we have around 13 Case Management Officers (CMOs) focussing on Revenues, working as part of a broader team which includes 3 Specialist colleagues and 1 Lead Specialist; we work together and individually to deliver high quality council tax and business rates services for the Borough.

Case Management Officer Band 4
- Extensive experience (minimum 2 years) in working in a customer focused, service delivery role.
- Proven ability to understand and comply with legislation and regulations in day to day business.
- Solid understanding of case management approach and experience of dealing with more complex cases and providing multi-disciplinary support.
- Proven ability to analyse, problem-solve and respond to requests and understanding when to escalate a case.
- Proven ability to be accurate, detailed, and professional in approach to work.
- Proven ability to deliver high standards and good customer service.
- Strong ICT skills and proven ability to learn new systems quickly.
