ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Health and Safety Lead for the One Horton Heath Project, you will provide a comprehensive service in all aspects of health and safety, ensuring that construction processes and all associated sites comply with appropriate legislation, regulations and professional standards. You will ensure that EBC as developer complies with all requirements of Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015 (CDM) with immediate focus on master planning and design stages of the project.
You will be responsible for the monitoring and ongoing development of our current Health & Safety Management System tailored to construction related activity that meets all relevant legislation, codes of practice and the Councils corporate Health & Safety requirements. You will ensure that delivering a safe and healthy working environment is embedded in all aspects of the project and at all levels of management and supply chain engagement.
You will be able to liaise with bodies such as the Health & Safety Executive, local Fire and Rescue dept. and any other relevant outside organisation, as well as supporting internal managers to maintain safe systems, providing specialist advice, coaching and practical support. You will also need to assess contractors' health and safety policies prior to approval and monitor compliance to Company Standards and the requirements of health and safety legislation.
You will continue to monitor, evaluate and review Health and Safety practices across the project, make recommendations to Corporate Health and Safety and relevant managers as needed. You will seek opportunities to implement new policies and procedures as required. Once the development is complete, you will ensure the Councils Health & Safety Management System is implemented consistently across the project.
The successful candidate will be a motivated individual holding a NEBOSH / or GradIOSH professional qualification with a proven track record of managing health and safety systems within the Housing/construction industry.
You will have extensive knowledge and demonstrable experience of developing and applying effective health and safety management strategies in construction projects, ideally across a variety of sectors. You will be able to demonstrate your detailed knowledge of current health and safety legislation and its application in your work.
You will have a professional approach which generates credibility and confidence in other others, coupled with excellent written and interpersonal skills. You will be confident and assertive with a self-motivated approach and flexible attitude, and have the ability to challenge constructively. An ability to cope with pressure and work to tight deadlines is essential.
You will be highly organised and able to work under your own initiative, able to prioritise and demonstrate selectivity on addressing matters, overcome obstacles and solve problems to achieve results. You will be thorough and attentive to detail, particularly with regard to document and report writing.
