Application forms for the Test and Trace support payment introduced by the Government on 28 September are now available on the Council’s website.
The support payment is to help those who are required to self-isolate and therefore unable to work, resulting in a loss of income. As self-isolation is one of the most effective tools for controlling the transmission of Covid-19, this new Test and Trace Support payment of £500 will ensure that those on low incomes are able to self-isolate without worry about their finances.
If, from 28 September, you have been contacted by the NHS asking you to self isolate and you have met the qualifying criteria (see below), you may be entitled to a support payment of £500 once a successful application has been received.
To qualify for the payment, you must be:
- asked to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace because you have recently tested positive for Coronavirus, or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive;
- employed or self-employed;
- unable to work from home and will lose income as a result;
- currently receiving Universal Credit, Working Tax Credit, income-based Employment and Support Allowance, income-based Jobseeker's Allowance, Income Support, Housing Benefit and/or Pension Credit.
The scheme will be available until 31 January 2021.
Test and Trace payments for successful applications received prior to us closing for the festive period will be made on 22 December 2020, any application made after this date will not be dealt with until we return in the week commencing 4 January 2021.
