Cafe and restaurant owners urged to apply for Pavement Licence

Cafe and restaurant owners in the Borough are encouraged to apply for a 'Pavement Licence' to ensure they are in place before restrictions begin to lift.

Last year the Business and Planning Act 2020 introduced a nationwide 'Pavement Licence' scheme to make it quicker and cost effective for businesses such as cafes, restaurants and bars to place furniture on pavements on a temporary basis while social distancing measures were in place.

When these businesses are able to reopen again there will still be various restrictions in place which is why we are reminding business owners to make sure they have applied for or renewed their licence in advance.

You can find out how to apply for this licence here.
