Community Growing Projects in Eastleigh
Highbridge Community Farm
This community facility in Allbrook produces local wholesome food, while promoting a healthy lifestyle and building a community life in and around the Borough. Everyone is invited to join them to help grow food cooperatively and benefit from buying the produce at significantly reduced prices.
Velmore Market Garden
Velmore Market Garden in Cox Row has been reopened with support from First Wessex and Groundworks. It currently opens every Sunday and Tuesday from 10am to 1pm.
All are welcome to volunteer at this community garden and all tools and seeds are provided. You don't need any experience as each session is run by a local site champion who will support new volunteers through a programme of training. All the produce grown is shared between the volunteers who have helped grow it. Excess crops are sold locally for a very small fee to help cover operational costs, or donated to local community groups or schemes. It is hoped some of the produce will supply cooking classes to be held at the Cherry Tree Café.
If you want to find out more email Chris or pop down to one of the sessions.
Edible Eastleigh
You don’t have to be part of a farm or have an allotment to grow food. You can do it in any free space. Incredible Edible Network offer some great advice on getting started.
