Competition launched for children to design a new sign for Hiltingbury Lakes
We're inviting young people local to the Hiltingbury Lakes site to enter our competition to design a new sign for the area.
We are providing an exciting opportunity for local budding artists up to the age of 16 to take part in this competition to create a design that could be featured on the new sign at the Hiltingbury Lakes site. Children are encouraged to take inspiration from the area on their daily walks to produce a unique image that could appear on the new signage.
The site at Hiltingbury Lakes, which is owned and managed by the Council, is currently undergoing a transformation to restore its historical woodland, improve the water flows, remove invasive plants and protect the local wildlife. The new signage is a part of the rejuvenation project and will give the younger members of the community a chance to be involved in the improvements to this beauty spot.
The Chair of Chandler’s Ford and Hiltingbury LAC, Cllr Alan Broadhurst said: “We’re really excited to be able to invite young members of the community to take part in this competition as part of this incredible transformation project. We know this area is enjoyed by young people and their families and we’re sure children will want to have signage inspired by their artwork on display for years to come. I would encourage all local young artists to send in a design and you could be seeing your design on the signs later this year.”
We're asking for children to submit their design ideas via the email [email protected] using a template that can be downloaded and printed here.
Entrants are asked to keep hold of their original artwork and the closing date is 25 April.
Winning artwork will be drawn in May and there will be vouchers for Itchen Valley Country Park available to the winning designs.
