Fly tippers warned - the council is determined to track you down
Fly tipping is illegal and could result in large fines or even jail.

We’re looking for information about a couple of large fly-tipping incidents along Allington Lane.
The rubbish appears to be from a restaurant, and we believe this waste may have been dumped on or around 04/04/2025.
It follows a similar incident in Allington Lane where rubbish which appeared to come from a bathroom refurbishment was dumped.
It appears to potentially be from a refurbishment because it contains a large amount of carpet and underlay. We do have CCTV of this incident, but unfortunately, we are unable to read the vehicle registration.
Fly-tipping is a criminal offence under The Environmental Protection Act 1990, and causes damages to the environment, risks public health and costs taxpayers to clean up.
Fly-tipping is the illegal depositing of waste on land that hasn’t got a licence to accept it.
You could be fined, or you may face prosecution if you hire an unlicensed waste carrier and your waste gets fly-tipped
Under Section 34 of The Environmental Protection Act 1990 you have a duty of care to ensure that your waste is disposed of correctly. When handing your waste over to a licenced waste carrier you should always ensure you try and get a waste transfer note and pay by card where possible, following these steps will help reduce unlicensed waste carriers from operating in our area.
Those who fly tip themselves may face prosecution, an unlimited fine and up to five years in prison or may receive a Fixed Penalty Notice.
Anyone with any information can share it in confidence via the link on the reporting page on the Council website.
- From June 2024 to date, we have issued 18 Fixed Penalty Notices for various offences including littering, fly-tipping and duty of care offences.
