Gore Copse opens
An area of woodland next to Pembers Hill, Fair Oak has been opened up for local people to enjoy.
Gore Copse is now open to local people following the completion of an informal gravel footpath that runs the length of the woodland and meadow area. It provides a walking route from the Pembers Hill Park development through to Mortimers Lane and where the footpath crosses the watercourse a board walk ensures an accessible route is maintained throughout the year.
The area of land is almost four hectares in size and includes Gore Copse, a stream and adjoining grassland for public open space.
Chair of Bishopstoke, Fair Oak & Horton Heath Area Committee Cllr Lou Parker-Jones said, “I’m delighted that this area of woodland is now open for local people to enjoy as it provides an important local ‘green lung’. It will also provide vital habitat to help maintain and improve the biodiversity of the area.”
The area will remain in the ownership and management of Drew Smith before being transferred to the Council to manage.
