Meet the Borough's new Mayor
Councillor Adam Manning is the new Mayor of Eastleigh following the Mayor Making ceremony last night.
Adam represents the Hamble & Netley ward and has been a Councillor for four years since 2018. He also became a Councillor on Hound Parish Council in the same year.
Adam was born in Southampton and grew up in the family home in Netley, on Abbey Hill, overlooking Southampton Water. He went to Netley Infant and Junior Schools, followed by Hamble Comprehensive School. He has a Master’s Degree in Law from the University of Southampton and is now an Associate and Senior Solicitor with a well-established law firm.
He met his wife Alison in Southampton and they married in 2000 and had their first child, a daughter called Felix, in 2007, followed by a son, Ben, in 2009. Both Felix and Ben attended Netley Infants and Junior School, just like their dad. Tragically, Ben lost his life earlier this year. Though this was devastating, Alison and Adam know that he received the very best care from our wonderful NHS.
Adam’s interests include being the chairman of Friends of Weston Shore, a group of local volunteers who look after a beautiful beach in Southampton and also space exploration and he is a keen member of the British Interplanetary Society.
Adam said, “I’m really excited about my Mayoral year and especially the opportunity to meet so many local people and celebrate all the great things that happen in the communities throughout our beautiful Borough.”
Adam has chosen The Royal British Legion and Ronald McDonald House serving Southampton Children’s Hospital and Princess Anne Hospital as his two charities for the year.
Councillor Nicholas Couldrey who represents Fair Oak & Horton Heath ward was invested as Deputy Mayor for the year.
