New Community Orchard Planted in Horton Heath
Part of the ‘Plant Eastleigh’ programme, volunteers helped plant a brand-new community orchard on the green space in Horton Heath - at the corner of Chapel Drove, Burnetts Lane, and Fir Tree Lane.
Together with the tree experts - the Council’s Rangers Nick and Alex, was joined by Siobhan Strand from Horton Heath and Fair Oak Parish Council, and dedicated volunteers from 'Plant Eastleigh'. They planted a total of 10 beautiful fruit trees…
🌳 3 apple trees
🌳 3 pear trees
🌳 3 cherry trees
🌳 2 damson trees
This diverse collection of trees were kindly provided by the Hampshire Forest Partnership, a Hampshire County Council initiative focused on supporting local green projects. This orchard will contribute to a sustainable and vibrant space for community members to enjoy, bringing fresh fruit, biodiversity, and a shared love of nature locally.
Thank you to all the volunteers and partners involved. Watch this space for more feel-good green stories from the Plant Eastleigh programme.
