Spring into action this Easter with Eastleigh Active
The Eastleigh Active programme of sports and activity sessions expands to Easter for a second year to help children and young people across the Borough to escape the everyday this April.
Eastleigh Borough Council’s programme will run Wednesdays to Fridays, 3 and 5 and 10 and 12 April across the two Easter holiday weeks for five-16-year-olds. It sees the return of popular activities such as Golf, Netball and Cycles4All.
It is funded by the Council’s Health & Wellbeing team, as well as the Local Area Committees, Parish and Town Councils, and supported by a broad range of partners including sports clubs, activity providers and venues. This has enabled activities to be subsidised at £3.50 per session, only £1 for families on Housing Benefit or Council Tax Support, and Free Swimming is back.
Sessions require pre-bookings with staggered release dates 4 and 6 of March, with Free Swimming pre-registration opening 26 February.
The Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, Councillor Tonia Craig, said: “We are excited to add the Easter programme to the Eastleigh Active scheme after a successful pilot last year. It will help school-aged children and teens meet new friends, discover new hobbies and above all – have fun! We are committed to supporting the health and wellbeing of all our community and there’s something for every family with free options, and a discounted Sessions rate of just £1 for households in receipt of Housing Benefit or Council Tax Support.”
