Students from Norwood Primary School win prizes for Jubilee artwork
Students from Norwood Primary School, Eastleigh, entered an art competition to have their work printed on hoardings outside the area where the old parlour building once stood on Chamberlayne Road.
The children were asked by our Skills and Employment Manager, Lea Hampton and Design Co-ordinator for One Horton Heath, Jitka Konecna, to submit artwork designs based around the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
201 entries were given to Lea and Jitka who then narrowed it down to 58 and took them along to residents local to the area to pick two overall winners. The winners were presented with £5 vouchers to spend in a local cafe, by Councillor Paul Bicknell, in a special Jubilee assembly.
The other 56 students that were not picked as overall winners, received a goody bag and their artwork will be included on the hoardings on Chamberlayne Road.
Lea said: "We were overwhelmed with the amount of entries we received, all the children put in so much effort with their artwork that it was really difficult to narrow it down, let alone choose the winners! We hope the children and residents enjoy seeing their pictures up on display as they pass by the site this half term, they have really brightened up the hoardings."
