Theatre goes outdoors across Eastleigh Borough
Programme offers everything from Jane Austen to The Jabberwocky
Theatre goes outdoors across Eastleigh Borough through August with a programme of Live at the Park events for all ages, brought to you by the team behind The Point and The Berry Theatre. This summer’s performances offer everything from Jane Austen to The Jabberwocky, and Peter Pan to Bad Dad parenting.
There’s some great family entertainment at Itchen Valley Country Park and at the Leigh Road Recreation Ground in Eastleigh – and, for the very first time, shows also take place in Hedge End, with two performances at Norman Rodaway Sports Ground.
The programme begins at Itchen Valley Country Park on Friday 11 August, 3pm with Peter Pan. Join Slapstick Picnic for a theatrical treat like no other as they whip up a three-handed version of J M Barrie’s classic play. Let your imagination soar as they dish out this timeless tale of hapless pirates, feral children and a particularly punctual reptile.
A more sedate, but no less entertaining evening is promised at the Norman Rodaway Sports Ground, Hedge End on Thursday 17 August, 7pm, with an adaptation of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility. Heartbreak Productions cordially invites you to this year's Sense and Sensibility Matchmaker's Ball where Ladies Elinor and Marianne Dashwood each seek to meet an honourable man of good fortune. As you mingle amongst the beau monde, revelry and romance will ensue. The Jabberwock
Beware the Jabberwock! The jaws that bite, the claws that catch! Run for you life! Save yourself! Aaargh! Calf 2 Cow present the hilarious new adaptation of Lewis Carroll's famous poem The Jabberwocky Sunday 20 August, 2pm, at the Leigh Road Recreation Ground, Eastleigh town centre. Join them as they tell the tale of our young hero from Pokeytin, armed with their vorpal sword, who braves the journey to take on the fierce Jabberwock.
Join Heartbreak Productions for Bad Dad , warm-hearted tale that follows the highs and lows of a father-son relationship. It takes place on Thursday 24 August, 5pm at the Norman Rodaway Sports Ground, Hedge End
So, pack your picnics, grab your wet weather gear or sun-cream (or both), something to sit on, and join Frank and Gilbert as they navigate their way through car chases and convicts in the struggle to escape the clutches of the local crime lord and clear Gilbert’s name.
