Food safety
Information on our role in food safety in the Borough
There are over 900 food businesses, including international distributors, manufacturers, retailers and caterers in our Borough.
We have a duty to inspect every one of these premises to make sure the food being provided to the public is safe and fit to eat.
All the food safety work we do is described in our combined Food Safety and Health & Safety at Work Service Plan. The Plan is in the format set out by the Food Standards Agency and the Health & Safety Executive and is agreed by our Councillors every year.
Food Premises Registration
Any food business that trades within the Borough must be registered
You can check if a food service is registered by visiting the Food Standard Agency (we update these records every two weeks).
You can raise concerns or enquiries online as a customer
