Warm Welcomes

Warm spaces in the Borough over winter 2022-23

What are Warm Welcome venues?

These venues are warm and welcoming places for residents who need a place with free entry to meet up with friends, take part in activities and just be, without switching on the heating at home.

It does not matter why you need to visit and no record will be taken. Everyone is welcome to these safe spaces where you will be treated with dignity and respect.

Some venues will provide activities, reading materials and refreshments, including hot drinks.

The list and map will be updated as venues are added and offers upgraded.

The Warm Welcome Charter

All locations have signed up to the Council's charter before we add them to the map. They will be provided with items to display in their windows and entrances to highlight them as an official Warm Welcome venue.

  1. We will offer a Warm Welcome as well as warm space

Every time you come to a Warm Space, you will be given a warm welcome from the staff and volunteers there.
  2. Everyone will be treated equally, with dignity and respect

Everyone has a right to be warm, so everyone will be treated with dignity and respect
  3. We will ensure that it is a safe space

Your Warm Space will abide by the safeguarding policies that it always uses.
  4. We will not tell anyone that you used a Warm Welcome venue

If people want to share why they need a Warm Space, they will be listened to and they will be signposted to where they can go for help where possible.
  5. It does not matter why you need a Warm Space

Every Warm Space is a non-judgemental space; whatever the reason you have for needing to come in, you will be treated the same and never judged.
