Your black household waste bin

Your black bin is collected fortnightly

We will collect your black household waste bin one week and your green recycling bin the following week.

Your black bin is for any household waste that can’t be recycled, so should not contain very much after you have removed your food waste and other recycling

Your black household waste bin must have its lid closed when ready for collection. Any bins where the lid does not close will not be able to be collected. Any waste left on the ground or on top of the bin, will also not be collected.

What you can put in your black household waste bin

  • Cling film
  • Polystyrene / plastic packaging
  • Crisp packets
  • Sanitary products / nappies (double wrap to avoid odours)
  • Cat litter

What you can’t put in your black household waste bin

  • Bricks / rubble, soil,
  • Large items i.e. furniture, large electrical items
  • Garden waste, car batteries, hot ash, paint cans

If any items from the above list are found in your black bin, our collection crews will be unable to empty the bin. You can take the items above at your local Household Waste Recycling Centre, there are four in the Borough.
