Disclaimer
The Borough of Eastleigh undertake relatively few public health funerals and therefore we consider that publication of this information at six monthly intervals is reasonable. We would therefore refuse any requests for updated information before the next planned update, under Section 22 of the Act, as it is information that we hold with the intention of publishing at some future date, as outlined above.
Exemption of additional information under The Freedom of Information Act 2000
Section 21 - Information accessible to applicant by other means
Some details of the estate of those persons who have died have been passed onto the Treasury Solicitors’ department and can be accessed via the Treasury Solicitors’ website or the Bona Vacantia website.
Section 31(1)(a) - Law Enforcement (prevention of detection of crime)
The release of personal details of a deceased individual with no known relatives may make the assets of the deceased of that person vulnerable. The disclosure of certain information may lead to the commission of offences, cause loss to the unsecured estates, and also lead to deceased identity fraud.
Taking into account the above issues, we consider that there is no over-riding public interest in releasing the information requested. Any public interest would be best served by upholding the exemption under S31 of the Act.
