Family Table
Eat Well. Spend Less.
The Council have launched a series of community cooking programmes as part of its UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) to help local residents deal with rising living costs. Advice on reducing food related energy costs and food waste is also a focus.
Key Benefits:

- Skill Development: Gain essential cooking skills and confidence whilst having fun!
- Food Savvy: Stretch your food budget further with practical tips.
Where & What’s Happening
Cooking programs will be available across the Borough at local centers like Pilands Wood, Velmore. There will also be family-focused workshops at the Pavilion on the Park and North Stoneham Community Centre, where participants can access community fridges. We are also planning to extend the programme to Fair Oak and Hedge End in the forthcoming months.
Additionally, we have partnered with Hampshire Education and Catering Services to develop a bespoke Cook and Eat Programme for primary schools across the Borough. This intergenerational hands on cooking programme, will be delivered by the school catering team and provide families with a whole host of resources to build their skills and confidence to cook from scratch at home.
We are also creating a local food partnership to develop our network of community pantries and community fridge schemes to increase access to low cost / no cost food and promote collaborative working and support across the network.
