Independent Remuneration Panel

We are currently recruiting to the Council's Independent Remuneration Panel to oversee our Members’ Allowances Scheme.

Before 1 April each year, the Council is required (by law) to make a scheme for the payment of a basic allowance, and other allowances which the Council intends to pay to Councillors for that year. The review would also consider the existing Special Responsibility Allowances (SRAs) within the scheme.

The Independent Remuneration Panel takes evidence and then makes recommendations on a Members’ Allowance Scheme. Before our current scheme is amended, the Full Council will need to approve the panel’s recommendations.
